THE FIT
Cut deliberately oversized, with a dropped shoulder and a wide batwing sleeve. It is meant to sit away from the body rather than follow it.The wrap front and tie belt do the sizing work, so there is no zip, no buttons and nothing to fasten. Bodies up to around a 48 in bust get a generous overlap across the front. Above that it still closes comfortably,it just crosses less far. The sleeve measurement above is taken from the dropped shoulder seam, which already sits well down the arm. It covers more than the number suggests. Two things to know before you order: The cuff is wide and open, with no ribbing and no elastic. Lovely to wear, but it will trail if you are washing up. Push it back. There is no hood and no collar. The neckline is formed by the wrap crossing over itself, and it sits open in a deep V.
THE FABRIC
A bouclé loop-pile knit. Look closely and you can see it: thousands of tinyloops rather than a flat brushed surface, with a soft vertical rib running through the length of it. It is closer to a teddy knit than to the shiny fleece you are picturing.100% polyester. The loops are what hold the warmth. They trap air between them, which is why the robe feels substantial without feeling heavy on your shoulders.The knit is worked the same on both faces, so there is no scratchy lining and no seam pressing against you anywhere.
CARE
Machine wash cold, on a gentle cycle Wash with similar colours. Tumble dry on low heat. Do not bleach. Do not dry clean. Cool iron only, if at all. The colour is set to hold through repeated washing. Two things worth doing, from people who own one: Tie the belt before it goes in the machine. Loose, it wraps around everything else in the drum and comes out knotted. Take it out of the dryer while it is still slightly warm and give it a shake. The loops lift straight back up and it keeps its softness far longer than if it sits in a heap.
